Four Weeks of World Peace

Written by Ian Zou from Ranny School in NJ, USA
First week of world peace, people ponder
Who are the ones to redeem
Why did we go through all the torture
All because of an unraveled dream
Beyond the time, things shall alter
Second week of world peace, people rebuild
Urban revive, skyscrapers erected
Not a single drop of cement spilt
Happy are the families to connect
Cities lay flourished like a quilt
Third week of world peace, people delete
None suffer from poverty
People destroy treaties that cheat
Everyone equally enjoys the novelty
No more injustice, no more defeat.
Last week of world peace, people ponder
What of hate, what of duty
Age of extinction is put to an order
What heart does humanity possess truly?
What lesson do we learn there?

Artist Statement:
My poem surrounds the topic of satirizing the cruelty of warfare to remind people of the peace we have today and to share voices with the ones suffering from deadly catastrophes in dangerous places around the world.
